Comrade Oyinkan Mosunmola Olasanoye is an astute labour leader who has distinguished herself within the labour circle in Nigeria and across the globe.
She was born in the mid-sixties at Owo, Ondo State, South-West of Nigeria. She had her early and tertiary education in the old Ondo State and has a Masters Degree in Business Administration (Financial Management) from Lagos State University in 2008.
She is a recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration from the State University of New York, Albany, USA in December 2017.
She is a member of Nigeria Institute of Management and an Associate Member of the following Institutes; Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators.
She joined the services of Royal Exchange Assurance Plc in 1993 to begin a fledgling career in Insurance and has worked till date in major strategic business units and she is currently a Senior Manager with the company.
Comrade Oyinkan Olasanoye upon her appointment in Royal Exchange Assurance Plc joined the local branch of the Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) to begin her training in trade union activism and rose speedily to become the Unit President in 2004; a position she combined efficiently with her primary assignment in the company.
In recognition of her leadership quality and critical roles in workers emancipation, workplace industrial peace/harmony, Gender and Women emancipation, she was elected a National Trustee and Coordinator Women in ASSBIFI in November 2007, 1st Deputy National President of Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) in 2010 till 2016. And the Chairperson- Women Commission of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) from March 2013 to April 2019.
Comrade Oyinkan Olasanoye has served as the National President of (ASSBIFI) from (2016 -2022), the 2nd Deputy National President of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Vice President – Africa Region Uniglobal Union, Vice President – Africa Region Professionals & Managers in Union (UNI P&I), Chairperson, World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) Nigeria Liaison Council, Chairperson, UNI Global Union Nigeria Liaison Council and an executive of the World Executive body of UNI Global Union with headquarters in NYON Switzerland and she is currently the Ex-officio of ASSBIFI.
In the course of building this amazing pedigree in both the insurance business and labour activism, she attended several top management training courses, Seminars and Workshops both locally and internationally. And she is a recipient of several national and global awards.
She was a delegate to the 2014 National Conference in Abuja.
